This is how I want our children to be raised in the church. But for now we have children's church during our regular service. It's basically a time where the kids goof off, and think that it's recess. I don't like it. When I was in my old Luthran church growing up, we stayed in church with our parents. I learned how to read a hymnal, recite the Lord's Prayer, and other liturgy that I would not have learned if I were stuck in some classroom full of kids that just wanted to goof around. I was also being trained to sit for a period of time while listening to the word of God. How are you going to learn to sit in church as an adult if you never learned how to do it as a child. Yes, there will be noises every once in a while. Babies will be crying. Kids will want to get up and go get a drink or go to the bathroom. So what? Adults do those things too. It doesn't mean that it's going to ruin the Pastor's sermon, or other's concentration. If we can get used to the idea of having children sit with their parents during church, I think that this will benifit the children as they get older. The parents should be responsible for their own kids. Not some poor teacher who has to deal with ten kids throwing pillows at each other, while He/She is trying to teach them about the Ark of the Covenant.
