Back to school
You know those parents that say, 'I cannot wait for these kids to get out of my hair and go back to school'? Well, I'm saying that. Not for my kids, but for the neighbors little girl. She is driving me absolutely batty! Now I know why my dad hated our neighbor Sophi. Some how Sophi has cloned herself into KC. The girl that comes to our door at 8am every friggin' morning. She cries out for Josh and Caleb at the top of her lungs. We are all still sleeping or eating breakfast. Then, when they finally do come outside, she has to be the boss of everything that happens. Of course Joshua loves that. Not! So, they start screaming at each other. This morning, KC's evil mother decides she's going to give KC a whistle. A whistle! My God, help us! She's blowing that thing right into our door as I am writing this. I try to be nice to her, but she gets on my nerves. Go back to school already KC!

We saw this dog at one of the concerts in the park. It was an American Eskimo dog. Of course Joshua believed it was an Arctic Fox.  Posted by Picasa

Five Little Known Facts About Me:

1. I got married at 20, and had Joshua when I was 21.

2. I didn't get my license until I was 19. (I failed the driving test twice).

3. I used to cry wolf a lot when I was little. Typical middle child syndrome.

4. My aunt and uncle smoked pot in front of me and my sister when we were little.

5. When I was little, I wanted to be just like my older sister. I was jealous of her abilities in art, handwriting, and being organized. I wish she were here to teach art to my boys. She's so good at it. Maybe she can video tape herself for their art lessons.

I wasn't tagged, but I'm tagging Bob, and Bryan

I'm trying this new thing. My brother Philip has it too. It's kind of like a blog, but more like instant messaging. It's kind of cool. I haven't gotten it all prettied up just yet. I haven't figured out how to do it. I want to add more pictures to it, but I don't know how. Kandy can you help me?

Mariachi
I hope the Norwalk City hall is ready for Josh tonight when they unleash his favorite music in the whole wide world. All girl Mariachi band. The only thing that will make this night even better is an all male mariachi band.
This is how I want our children to be raised in the church. But for now we have children's church during our regular service. It's basically a time where the kids goof off, and think that it's recess. I don't like it. When I was in my old Luthran church growing up, we stayed in church with our parents. I learned how to read a hymnal, recite the Lord's Prayer, and other liturgy that I would not have learned if I were stuck in some classroom full of kids that just wanted to goof around. I was also being trained to sit for a period of time while listening to the word of God. How are you going to learn to sit in church as an adult if you never learned how to do it as a child. Yes, there will be noises every once in a while. Babies will be crying. Kids will want to get up and go get a drink or go to the bathroom. So what? Adults do those things too. It doesn't mean that it's going to ruin the Pastor's sermon, or other's concentration. If we can get used to the idea of having children sit with their parents during church, I think that this will benifit the children as they get older. The parents should be responsible for their own kids. Not some poor teacher who has to deal with ten kids throwing pillows at each other, while He/She is trying to teach them about the Ark of the Covenant.
More memories
It was my sister's 18th birthday. We were in Yosemite with our church youth group. Our friends Sophi and Jeannie helped me plan a surprise party for her in the village. We made the cake out of twinkies, green frosting, skittles, and candles that almost burned our hair off. The candles were like sparklers for 4th of July. There's a picture of me with green icing all over my lips, and I'm screaming because I didn't know the candles were going to do that. Dumb blondie. I should've known, something like that always happened to us. It was classic though. I will never forget that week in Yosemite.

Remembering
I was thinking about the days when Joshua went to his little private school a couple years ago. Yesterday Joshua dug up all of his old school work looking for his drawings. He would laugh everytime he saw one. Then just keep on digging for more, until the whole house was full of old papers laying all over the place. I let him do it. It's very rare to see Josh as happy as he was yesterday. I was looking at all of the things that he did at that school. It's amazing. He was learning Latin, cursive, adding, reading, etc. This was all in K-1st grade. Wow. I have some work cut out for me this year. I have some of those things to teach them, but how am I going to get it all done. I have the will, I just don't know in reality how much of this stuff I can accomplish with them. I am not sending them to school. That's for sure. I was tortured with guilt everytime Joshua would walk out the door with my dad to go to school. It's partly because I had the daycare. I wasn't able to go to his class and help like I wanted to. But deep down insde of me, I think even if I were there helping all of the time, I would've felt the same way. I know some day, I have to let go of my sons. But if I have a chance when they're little to teach them things that they wouldn't normally learn at school, then I'm going to do it. I was talking with one of the ladies at our church that is a teacher. I asked her if she was all ready with her lesson plans. She said no. This made me feel much better knowing that a teacher wasn't ready. She said that she just stays one step ahead of her students. That's all I try to do. I am a lot more organized this year than I was last year. Partly because I know as soon as this new baby comes, I need to be in a schudule already.

Target
We had to get Josh some new swimming trunks. We found some at Target. We also found some sweet T-shirts. Napoleon Dynomite T-shirts to be exact. Josh wanted the 'Vote for Pedro' one, and Caleb wanted the 'Flippin' Sweet' one with a picture of Napoleon on it. I wanted Josh to have the one that said 'Gimmie some of your tots, man.' But Josh refused. They'll probably wear them to Disneyland the next time we go. I want to go before school starts. We'll see.

Bob is home!
I went to pick my husband up from the airport yesterday. This one was nicer than the other one he usually goes to. Lot of gays there though. One guy had on horse riding pants with boots that went up past his knees! I can only hope that the older man he was with was his dad. It was probably his sugar daddy. Anyway, Bob had a good flight. Dispise the fact that he forgot to put on deoderant. At least there was no one sitting right next to him. He was very hungry when he got off the plain. So, we went to Chipotle. I love that place. Next time I think I'll skip the salsa and the chicken though. It was a tad bit much for me. Bob had to go to school last night. I only got to see him for like 3 hours. I went to a concert in the park with my mom and my two boys. It was kind of boring. Mambo Salsa music. Josh loved it because it had Bongos, and a trumpet. Oh, and there were lots of fluffy dogs running around everywhere. Josh and Caleb made my mom go searching for a fluffy German Shepard. They found it. It looked just like my mom's dog Blitz. When Bob got home the boys were in their beds, but not asleep yet. Josh came down the stairs and said 'I missed you daddy!' Caleb didn't say that, but he gave Bob a big hug.

Bob is coming home!
My husband has been away for business since Mon. He's coming home today! As soon as he left, our cable and internet service went out. My days have been filled with doing the dishes, and the laundry. Bob said, maybe we should get rid of the cable and I should buy a laptop and bring it to work with me. I was seriously thinking about this for a split second. Then I thought, no way. I'm here all day, I should have something for me too. I need some down time, and TV is how I do it. Anyway, being without the TV and internet made me miss Bob even more. I didn't have anything to numb my mind, or distract me besides two screaming little banchies. As soon as the cable started working yesterday, guess who figured it out? Not me, the boys. Our two fried brain boys, that try and watch 'Their shows' every chance they get. It's either that, or they go outside and fight to their deaths with the next door neighbor girl KC. They have a love/hate relationship with her. My boys are on the hate side. She is on the love side. Josh and Caleb could give two rats a** if KC wants them to come outside and play with her. Josh is perfectly content with drawing his pictures at the dining room table. Caleb would rather put his daddy's White Stripes cd on, and play Star Wars on X-box. KC left for two whole weeks last month. It was the most peaceful time since we'd moved into this place three years ago. If we move, KC will be the one missing us, not the other way around.

Saving and giving
This is the first year ever that we have put money in our svings account for Christmas money. It feels really good. I thought about this today when I was driving the boys to VBS. Caleb was complaining that he was wasting his money, giving it to the African children everyday at VBS. They bring change and they see if the girls or the boys put more money in it everyday. Then at the end of the week they see how much money they've raised to give it to children in Africa. I tried to explain this to Caleb. I told him, what if you didn't have anything? Wouldn't you like it if someone gave you what you needed? Like food, clothes, and school supplies. Caleb said 'What about my Star Wars toys? Would they give me that?' That's the priorities of a 5 year old. What can I say?

Memories of hurting myself
My sister was writing about how she was clumsy when she was little. It made me think of how much I hurt myself too. I think I was a tomboy, or I have ADHD or something. I was very active with my 4 siblings. One time, we were all teasing the boy across the street. His name was Donald. We were calling him Donald Duck. He started running after us, and everyone except for my dumbass ran across to the other side of the street. We knew he wasn't aloud to cross the street. But for some reason, I was thinking about how we just learned in Sunday School, that if you ask God to do something He will do it. Probably not those exact words, but that's what I thought our teacher was saying to us. So, I stop right at the curb. I ask God to save me from Donald Duck. What happened? Donald Duck pushed my stupid ass into the street. I scraped my leg up, and I was screaming bloody murder. I think I used to scream a lot, because when something really bad happened, my mom wouldn't know the difference. So she took her sweet time to come and see what was wrong. I had to lay in the street until my dad came out to save me. It felt like an eternity. I'm pretty sure our neighbors hated us. We were very loud.

I told the boys that we're going to visit the baby on Sat. In their minds, it doesn't mean an actual baby. It means they're going to see their cousin, Duke. My brother Bryan's dog. They started talking in a baby voice like Duke was in the room with them. 'Yes, you are a baby!' Then I told them that they're going to a swimming party after that. It was too much exciting news for them. It should be fun.

Another reason they're not going to public school.
Josh and Caleb were outside with some other boys they don't usually play with from down the street. Josh asked one of them a question, and they responded by saying: 'Maybe because you're such a fat a**' Then Josh said the same thing back to them. Wonderful. I told Josh and Caleb to stay away from them. They're bullies, and they're just trying to pick fights with other kids. Josh wanted to beat them up right then and there. I was very tempted to let him. But there was too many of them. And Josh probably would've really hurt one of them if I let him. He was that angry. I don't think these boys know who they were messing with. When Josh gets angry, you better run. He kind of reminds me of Kandy in that sense. When I was younger of course. You didn't mess with her, or she'd get ya. And you couldn't lock yourself in the bathroom either. She knew how to unlock it from the other side. Ah, those were the days. Me stealing something out of her room, and her chasing me into the bathroom.
VBS
It's Vacation Bible School time. The boy's are at my mom's church this week for their VBS program. Very cool for me. I stayed for a little bit, just to see what they would be doing. Then I came home and did some laundry. The boy's are now at my parents house. Wow, this is what it would feel like if I had them go to school all day. I would miss them too much.

Memories of Subway
I used to work at Subway when I was 19. It was a nice place to work. No fried food, & the people were generally nice. One day, when it was lunch hour, this song came on the radio: 'One way or another, I'm gonna find ya, I'll get ya, I'll get ya!' So, the line is out the door with business men and women talking on their cell phones, and their designer suits on, ready to eat a veggie with no mayo, cheese or oil. All of a sudden, we hear some guy, busting out singing this song, in the gayest voice you can imagine. 'One way, or another, I'm gonna find ya! I'll get ya, I'll get ya!' I couldn't stop laughing. I think I had to serve him too. I couldn't look at him. He just kept on singing it. It was the most awesome moment in Subway history. We were way ahead of Cold Stone.

When we went to the eye Dr. for Josh, our friends from church that are from India watched the boys for us. When we came and picked them up, we sat and talked for a while with Shoba and her son and daughter that are teenagers. Shoba was telling us that in the Indian culture, the oldest son takes care of his parents. They come to live with the oldest son and his wife. Shoba's daughter looked at her mom, and said 'Mom, that is the old ways of doing things. Times are changing.' Shoba said that when her father-in-law came in the room, she would stand the whole time he was in there. Finally after a while, he told her she could sit down. She said that the elders are highly respected. Even a person that is one year older than you, you have to listen to them. Of course, Joshua thought he knew more about their culture than they did. He brought his world history book with him to their house. They let him borrow a Bollywood DVD, and a cassette of Indian music. Guess what Josh listens to every morning now instead of Mariachi music? Indian music. I love it though. It's awesome. I told Josh, if he was Indian, he would have to take care of us when we got old. He said that he always wants to live with us. What a sweet boy. If he gets married, I don't think his wife would like his hospitality very much. Unless she's Indian.

The sound of silence.
Bob went to his parents house to help his dad move some things back into their house. They got new carpet, and tile in their house. Bob took the boys with him. Ahh, all I hear is the fan blowing, and the dryer going. I promised Bob if he took the boys, I would do some house work. We're supposed to go see a wake boarding contest tommorow in Long Beach with some friends from church. It should be fun. My brother Bryan has done that I think with his in-laws on their boat.

Our 9th Anniversary
Bob stayed home today. I made him. I told him that I wasn't going to see him all day or night because he has to go to school tonight. So, he felt bad. And he stayed home. Yay for me! He wants me to make him breakfast. I think I can do that. I think so. (That one's for Kristin, she'll know what I'm talking about). We'll probably exchange cards or something, since we already went out on Sunday. I can't believe we've been married for 9 years. We were youngin's though. I remember when the boys were babies, and we tried to go out really quick for dinner for our Anniversary. That's going to be us again next year. I love you Bob, with all of my heart. We've been through a lot together over the years. I wouldn't have it any other way. God has blessed us with a wonderful family, and great friends. Thank you for always loving me no matter what.

Josh's Eye Doctor
We went back to the eye Dr. without the kids this time. He told us a lot about Josh that gave us answers, finally. He doesn't need glasses. He's color blind. He has problems reading silenlty because his brain hasn't learned how to make his eyes focus on the words for long periods of time. After a while, the words look blurry, or double. He said that Josh is very smart, because he learned how to get around that. He reads out loud, which is easier on the brain. He hears it, and that's how his brain retained the information. That's why when he gets into the older grades, he'll have to start reading silently, with no pictures. He will begin to hate reading. It will give him headaches, or make him sleepy. He also has motor problems, large and small. His trunk area hasn't developed, which makes him squirmy and figdety when sitting. That makes it hard for him to write neatly. Which explains the messy handwriting. The Dr. asked me when Josh started crawling. I said very late, 10 months old. But he didn't just start crawling. I had to be on the ground with him, and make his legs and arms move the way they were supposed to. The Dr. said that I was doing physical therapy, like they do for Autistic kids. They don't learn how to crawl or walk on their own. They need to be trained. That's what I was doing, and I didn't even know it. He said that it was very good that I made him crawl first before he walked. The Dr. said he did these tests for motor skills. He had Josh stand up with his hands against the wall. He ran his finger down Josh's spine. Josh squirmed like he was being tickled. He said that should be an infant's response to that type of touch. An older kid should be able to stand there like nothing happened, without wiggling. He did another test where he told Josh to walk toward him, but to walk with his feet turned outward like a duck. Josh did it, but his hands did whatever his feet did. That's what babies do when they're learning how to walk. He said in Josh's brain, there's no separation above and below the waist. There should be but there isn't. We have to train his brain all of these things. He will learn them, but he has to go through motor therapy, and eye training. It will probably take 6 months or more. I have to take him to therapy once a week in Torrance, and do certain motor excersises every day with him for 30 to 40 minutes. This will be worth it in the long run. Josh will love to read, out loud or silently. He'll be able to write neatly, without squirming. He'll be able to do sports without feeling awkward. He'll be able to look into someone's eyes. He won't be as frustrated. He'll probably still have his little obsessions, like mexico, and foxes. I can deal with that.

Josh- (digging in his pants for gold)
Bob- Dude, dude, go in the bathroom and do that!
Josh- But the canyon between my penis and testicles are iching!
All of us- (bursting into laughter)
We went out last night for our 9th Anniversary. We had a wonderful time. We saw Ray Ramano, and went out to eat at this nice Italian Restaurant. The food was great, we can't go back to Olive Garden. Ok, this is where I tell you something that is unbelievable. We were going out of the restaurant, and we notice this girl coming in the door with her boyfriend, pimp, whatever. She is digging down her top, adjusting her chest. Umm, hello, go back to the streets lady. Then we give the valet guy our ticket. We see this group of old people trying to get into their Volvo. One of the ladies was not wearing any pants, or a skirt or shorts, or a skort. She was wearing bright pink underwear. That's it. OH and a short jacket that did not cover anything but her waist up. We were fully disturbed. We didn't understand. It was all very confusing. And she was old! It was the most disgusting thing I'd ever seen. I have two boys, it takes a lot to fully disgust me. That did it, right there kids.
