Bragging Rights
Joshua is our little genius. Not to say that Caleb isn't. We had Joshua privately tested through a specialist. She helps home schooling parents find the right curriculum for their children. When it came to the reading and vocabulary part of the test, Joshua was off the charts. Literally, he was reading 8th grade vocabulary words. We weren't all that shocked, just because we hear how he talks to us, and I guess we're used to it. He does like to say the big words, and he doesn't have a problem reading them. He was even putting the correct accent to the words. The specialist looked at us, and said 'I hope you know what a special and talented little boy this is. I mean, what kid do you know this age says the words skinny snout?' We looked at each other and said, 'Well, pretty much just Joshua.' There was another test with pictures, and he was supposed to tell her what he thought it was. It was a black and white picture of a cowboy boot with flames on the side. Joshua said that it was frozen fire, and that auntie Kristin would wear it. Even though he didn't say cowboy boot at first, the specialist loved his answer, because it was so descriptive. She said he should write poetry. She said her husband was born in Sweden in a passing comment, not thinking that Joshua would care or even remember that she said that. Way later in the session, he asked her what instruments they played in Sweden. She just looked at him, then looked at us, and said 'I can't believe you remembered me saying that.' Joshua looked at her and said, 'I love all countries, and instruments. What do they wear in Sweden?' When we were driving home, Joshua said to us, 'I think I deserve mexican food now.' He also said 'That lady reminds me of Grandma Marlene, because she was calling me Sweety, and Cutie Pie, and Superman.' Joshua worked hard and he did deserve Mexican food. I am very proud of him. God has blessed us with two very special and talented boys. I'll write about Caleb next time, I promise.
